Spiced Chai Horchata
Ingredients
1/2 cup Royal Basmati rice
2 tbsp raw almonds
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp cardamom seeds
2 whole cloves
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
3 tbsp dried rose petals (optional)
1/3 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
4 cups cold water
Instructions
- Into a blender add Royal Basmati rice, almonds, ground cinnamon, cardamom seeds, clove, nutmeg, ground ginger, dried rose petals, and sugar. Add 2 cups of water and blend for 40 seconds. Let this mixture sit in the fridge overnight or at least 4 hours at room temperature.
- When ready to serve, add in 2 cups of cold water and stir well. Strain the horchata through several layers of cheesecloth or a tea towel. Pour the horchata into a mixture and add ice to cool. Enjoy!
