Sona Masoori Rice

Pearls of South India

Grown in the southern regions of India, Sona Masoori is an integral part of the South Indian cuisine. Royal® Sona Masoori is an aromatic and lightweight medium-grained rice known as the “Pearls of South India,”. With its delicate flavor, it is the perfect choice for pongal, coconut rice, steamed rice or as a compliment to South Indian Curries.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

1 cup Royal® Sona Masoori Rice
2½ cups water
1 tbsp of oil/butter (optional)
¼ tsp salt (optional)

Stove Top: Take 1 cup of Royal® Sona Masoori Rice and gently rinse twice. Combine with 2½ cups of water and let mixture rest for 15 minutes. Bring mixture to boil, stir gently and cover with lid. Cook the rice on medium flame for 15 minutes or until all the water has been fully absorbed. Remove from heat and serve.

Microwave: Take 1 cup of Royal® Sona Masoori Rice and gently rinse twice. Combine with 2½ cups of water and let mixture rest for 15 minutes. Cook in a microwave-safe bowl on high for 10 minutes, remove cover and stir. Cover and microwave on defrost for an additional 10 minutes. If rice is too hard in the first cooking, use more water. Use less water if it is too soft.

Electric Rice Cooker: Take 1 cup of Royal® Sona Masoori Rice and rinse twice to remove starch. Place rice and water in an electric rice cooker. Cover the cooker, turn it on, and cook. Fluff with fork and serve.
