Every grain of Ponni Boiled rice is selected from the southern regions of India, where each harvest is partially cooked in the husk, followed by careful milling. Our parboiling method is calibrated to deliver a delicious, sweet, nutty flavor while offering pre-preparation for optimal cooking to deliver a winning meal. Serve this South Indian classic in a simple pulao or alongside your favorite curry.
Soak rice for 10-15 minutes (optional). For enhanced taste, add 2 teaspoons of oil or 1 tablespoon of butter and a pinch of salt for each dry cup of rice prepared (optional). To remove excess starch, rinse Royal® Ponni Boiled Rice 1-2 times, then drain. For FIRMER RICE, use less water and reduce cooking time. For SOFTER RICE, use more water and increase cooking time.
Stove Top Method: Bring 1¾ cups of water to a boil in saucepan with tight fitting lid. Once the water is boiling, add 1 cup of rice Royal® Ponni Rice, cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and serve while still hot.
Rice Cooker Method: Use ratio 1 cup of rice to 1¾ cups of water. See rice cooker manual for specific operation. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and serve while still hot.
Microwave Method (1200-Watt rating): Combine 1 cup rice and 2 cups water in a microwave-safe container (2qts minimum capacity). Cover tightly with microwave-safe lid and cook on HIGH power setting for 15-17 minutes. Remove from microwave. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and serve while still hot.
CAUTION CONTAINER WILL BE HOT. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate. Adjust cooking time as needed.
